A recent report has suggested that around 14,000 factories have been damaged since the flooding started in July. These cover a range business including hard disk factories and camera making plants. The IT company Western digital has been highlighted as one of the most heavily afflicted. As a hard disk supplier their shipping is expected to drop by almost 60% in the current quarter. This drop in shipping will have an effect on all businesses in the flooded provinces, causing an increase in purchase cost which looks to affect all those in the IT business including those from the ICT support companies. Present estimates are a 10% increase in cost between October and December this year. Google and other enterprise customers are not expected to be harmed. However firms producing television box sets are warned adjustments may need to be made. HIS iSuppli Market Intelligence stated that until the floodwater clears the full extent of the damage cannot be expressed.
